Introduction
The purpose of this article is to propose a new interpretation of the difficult Matthean expression hetaire eph’ho parei, which we find in 26,50a. Its meaning can be revealed or deduced from the interesting composition of the whole “Gethsemane pericope” 26,36-56. At the beginning I would like to present the delimitation of the whole pericope and then to introduce a possible new interpretation of the expression.
